Pre-conference event 2: Advanced Brainstorm Carrefour (ABC); “Economic and Touristic Importance of Culture and Cultural Heritage of the City”

1About

An Advanced Studies Institute (ASI) organized in order to put into the spotlight on one of the most pressing problems in the contemporary world, viz., the cross-border movement of people and knowledge at regional and national scales and the subsequent impacts of these forces for regional and urban development. A full-day set of lectures on state-of-the-art theory, methodology and applications related to the ASI theme will be given by a teaching staff, comprising amongst others Peter Nijkamp, Mark Partridge, Bruce Newbold, Karima Kourtit, Neil Reid and Laurie Schintler. The ASI is particularly relevant for Ph.D. students and post-docs from all over the world and will be organized in an interactive way between teaching staff and the audience.

How to reach us: map. With its long history dating from 1971, Faculty of Economics, University of Split is the largest Faculty of economics in Dalmatia and the second one in Croatia. With an impressive “new” building that opened in 2002, our Faculty became one of the most beautiful, most modern and best equipped knowledge temples in the country. The beauty, functionality and grace of this white and blue edifice spreading on six levels, is just stunning. With state of the art classrooms, info labs, amphitheaters and offices, within Faculty there is also a restaurant, coffee shops, a tobacco shop and a book shop. The library spreads on over 1,000 m² and offers more that 30,000 publications. The building is completely equipped with the latest technical equipment, and it can meet even the most demanding requirements for the organization of business and social gatherings and it is often rented as an outsourced venue for many events.

Young researchers who participate in the ASI are also welcome to attend the Advanced Brainstorm Carrefour (ABC). The theme of this open access meeting is: “Economic and Urban Importance of Culture and Cultural Heritage”. The event is relevant not only for scholars but especially for policy makers.
