TYPES OF SUBMISSION


The 14th International Conference “Challenges of Europe: Design for the Next Generation” offers a multitude of opportunities for presenting your important scientific research:
In addition to sessions used to present your work (R-type, S-type, P-type, Y-type, and X-type), several special events will be organized such as: Meet the Professors, Meet the Editors, Advice for young researchers and a PhD workshop. All the details will be published in due time.

R-TYPE


  Refereed papers (R-type)

Refereed Papers (R-type) will be subject to a double peer-review process before the Conference and those meeting the reviewers’ standards will be considered for publication in journals indexed in: Current Contents – Social & Behavioral Sciences, Social Sciences Citation Index, Journal Citation Reports (Thomson Reuters), IBSS – International Bibliography of the Social Sciences (LSE), Scopus (Elsevier), ProQuest LLC., EBSCO Publishing bibliographic and research databases. Papers fulfilling the reviewers’ standards will be considered for publication in the Conference proceedings published in electronic format with an ISSN reference and submitted for indexation in Scopus and WoS CPCI.

The papers NOT meeting the reviewers’ standards will not be published. The status of the paper will be announced after the Conference. The status could mean that the paper has been accepted (with/without modifications) or rejected for publication in the journals or in the Conference Proceedings. The authors of the accepted papers will be required to state whether they accept the proposed status of the paper, and their willingness to make the changes indicated by the reviewers.

Having declared their willingness to follow the reviewer's requirements, the author(s) agree to the following:

  • to guarantee that the submitted paper has not been published, accepted for publication, or is under consideration for publication elsewhere.
  • to release the copyright to the Faculty of Economics, Business and Tourism, University of Split for the Conference Proceedings.

Refereed papers (R-type) must submit:

  • Title of the paper
  • (Select) a theme
  • Abstract included in Full paper (min. 100 - max. 200 words)
  • Keywords and JEL codes
  • Full paper (Title page, Main text (anonymized)): min. 3500 - max. 8000 words for the Conference proceedings
  • Anonymized paper (Remove names and affiliations under the title, Remove references to funding sources, Remove acknowledgments, Name your file with care, ...)

In case that the author(s) decide to be considered for publication in the selected journals, the authors should follow the relevant Journal’s Instructions for authors:

  • Abstract submission is not a precondition for sending a Full paper.
  • Please use the template for Full Paper (if submitted for Conference Proceedings).
  • The length of the Full paper should be in line with the previous instructions.
  • Full papers have to be submitted through the online submission system. Full papers submitted by e-mail, fax, or regular mail will not be considered.
  • The deadline for Full paper submission for Refereed Papers (R- type) is March 15, 2023.
  • The authors are free to modify their Full papers in the period of 10 days after the first submission, but not later than the submission deadline.
  • Having submitted/modified the Full paper, the authors (and contact person(s)) will be automatically notified of the submission/modification. If such a confirmation is not received, please contact us right away.
  • The authors must follow the important dates for reviewing and re-submitting the papers as indicated in the Important Dates section.
  • The Conference Proceedings will be available by the end of 2023.

S-TYPE


Papers in progress (S-type)

Papers in progress (S-type) will be discussed during the Conference and not published. The objective of the Papers in progress (S-type) is to give the participants the opportunity to present their research in progress in a conference setting and to get feedback from peers and senior economists.

The authors of the Papers in progress (S-type) do not need:

  • to guarantee that the submitted paper has not been published, accepted for publication, or is under consideration for publication elsewhere; and
  • to release the copyright to the Faculty of Economics, Business and Tourism of the University of Split.
  • Papers in progress (S-type) must submit:

    • Title of the paper
    • (Select) a theme
    • Abstract included in the Extended abstract or in the Full paper (min. 150 - max. 200 words)
    • Extended Abstract (min. 1000 - max. 2000 words) or Full paper (min. 3500 - max. 10000 words)
    • Keywords and JEL codes

    • Full paper upload is not mandatory but is recommended in order to increase your chances of being accepted for Papers in progress.
    • Please use the templates for the Extended Abstract and/or the Full Paper.
    • Extended Abstracts and/or Full papers have to be submitted through the online submission system. Full papers and Extended Abstracts submitted by e-mail, fax, or regular mail will not be considered.
    • The deadline for the Extended Abstract or Full paper submission for Papers in progress (S- type) is March 15, 2023, to be included in the Conference Program.
    • The authors are free to modify the Extended Abstracts and Full papers in the period of 10 days after the first submission, but not later than the submission deadline.
    • Having submitted/modified the Extended Abstract / Full paper, the authors (and contact person) will be automatically notified of the submission/modification. If such a confirmation is not received, please contact us right away.

    P-TYPE


    Papers for PhD workshop (P-type)

    All authors in this section must be PhD students.

    Papers for PhD workshop (P-type) will be discussed during the Conference and not published.

    The objective of the PhD Workshop is to give PhD students the opportunity to present their research in progress in a conference setting and to get feedback from peers and senior economists. The peers and senior economists will provide guidance on how to successfully carry out research in the economics domain. Thus, this is an exceptional opportunity to understand what people are working on in more detail, build up networks and improve presentation skills. The participants will also benefit from plenary and other sessions in which keynote speakers and senior economists present their most recent contributions to the field.

    The Workshop welcomes submissions by PhD students at any stage of their PhD studies, as well as students who will be completing their PhDs in 2023. We are not looking for completed papers only; early stage papers are also very welcome.
    The authors should present their work in 15 minutes. Afterwards, the papers will be discussed by a discussant for 5 minutes and a 10-minute discussion will follow. Proposals in all fields of economics, business and tourism are welcome.

    PhD workshop (P-type) must submit:

    • Title of the paper
    • Select a theme
    • Abstract included in the Extended abstract or in the Full paper (min. 150 - max. 200 words)
    • Extended Abstract (min. 1000 - max. 2000 words) or Full paper (min. 3500 - max. 10000 words)
    • Keywords and JEL codes

    • Full paper upload is not mandatory but is recommended to increase your chances of being accepted for Papers for PhD Workshop (P-type).
    • Please use the templates for the Extended Abstract and/or the Full Paper.
    • Extended Abstracts and/or Full papers have to be submitted through the online submission system. Full papers and Extended Abstracts submitted by e-mail, fax, or regular mail will not be considered.
    • The deadline for the Extended Abstract or Full paper submission for Papers for Ph.D. Workshop (P-type) is March 15, 2023, to be included in the Conference Program.
    • The authors are free to modify the Extended Abstracts and Full papers in the period of 10 days after the first submission, but not later than the submission deadline.
    • Having submitted/modified the Extended Abstract / Full paper, the authors (and contact person) will be automatically notified of the submission/modification. If such a confirmation is not received, please contact us right away.
    • The authors have to follow the timetable of reviewing and re-submitting the papers as indicated in the Important Dates section.

    Y-TYPE


    Young participant papers (Y-type)

    All authors in this section should be born in 1991 or later.

    Young participant papers (Y-type) will be discussed during the Conference and not published.

    The objective is to give young participant the opportunity to present their research in progress in a conference setting and to get feedback from peers and senior economists. Therefore, each presentation of the young participant paper will be assigned a discussant. The discussant will provide guidance on how to successfully carry out research in the researcher domain. Thus, this is an exceptional opportunity to understand what people are working on in more detail, build up networks and improve your skills. Participants will also benefit from plenary and other sessions in which keynote speakers and senior economists present their most recent contributions to the field. Early stage papers are also very welcome.

    The authors should present their work in 15 minutes.
    Afterwards, the papers will be discussed by a discussant for 5 minutes and open to a 10-minute discussion. Proposals in all relevant fields are welcome.

    Young participant papers (Y-type) must submit:

    • Title of the paper
    • Select a theme
    • Abstract included in the Extended abstract or in the Full paper (min. 150 - max. 200 words)
    • Extended Abstract (min. 1000 - max. 2000 words) or Full paper (min. 3500 - max. 10000 words)

    X-TYPE


    Special session(s) papers (X-type)

    The Programme and Organizing Committee of the 14th International Conference “Challenges of Europe: Design For  Next Generation” invite you to propose a Special Session to be included in the programme of the 2023 Conference. Please send in your proposal by November 30, 2022.

    Please read carefully the procedure and guidelines regarding Special Sessions at the Conference:

    What do we offer?

    • We aim to allow 15 to 25 minutes for each presentation slot in a Special Session

    What do we ask?

    • Each Special Session has a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 6 registered presenters
    • Presenters apply for a Special Session on the basis of an Extended abstract/Paper (deadline March 15, 2023)
    • Presentations are based on an Extended abstract/Paper that has been uploaded on the Conference submission website

    We look forward to receiving your proposals for Special Sessions. Should you have any questions, please contact the Organizing Committee.

    If a Special Session does not meet the programme committee’s conditions, it will still be included in the programme, but labelled as a Work-in-progress session (S-type).

    The proposal must include the following information:

    • Title and abstract: Propose a title and a brief abstract of no more than approximately 100 words that will allow conference attendees to understand the topic and the focus of the special session.
    • Rationale: Please explain why the topic of the special session is novel and timely, why it is relevant to the Conference community.
    • Proposed speakers: Provide a list of all talks, speakers, and co-authors (in each associated paper). Technical sessions are normally expected to have 3 to 5 papers.
    • Biographies: Provide a short bio-sketch of the session proposers.

    • A proposal for the special session should be submitted through the online submission system. The proposals submitted by e-mail, fax, or regular mail will not be considered.
    • The deadline for the special session proposal is November 30, 2022.
    • Extended Abstracts or/and Paper have to be submitted through the online submission system after the Special Session proposal has been accepted. Papers and Extended Abstracts submitted by e-mail, fax, or regular mail will not be considered.
    • Paper upload is not mandatory to be accepted for Special session papers (X-type).
    • Please use the templates for the Extended Abstract and the Full Paper.
    • The deadline for the Extended Abstract or Paper submission for Special session papers (X-type) is March 15, 2023, to be included in the Conference Program.
    • The authors are free to modify the Extended Abstracts and Papers in the period of 10 days after the first submission, but not later than the submission deadline.
    • The authors have to follow the important dates for reviewing and re-submitting the papers as indicated in the Important Dates section.
