Flying into Split Airport (SPU)
Located 70 kilometres (43 miles) from Brela, Split Saint Jerome Airport (SPU), also known as Split Airport, is the closest international air hub. It hosts more than 3 million passengers annually and connects Split with many cities worldwide, offering both direct and connecting flights, particularly during the spring and summer months.
Transfers from Split Airport to Brela
Public Bus: First, you need to reach the Split Bus Station. You can take a shuttle bus from the airport or use public transportation (line no. 37). From there, regular buses run to Brela. The total travel time is approximately 2 hours.
Car Rental: Several car rental companies operate at Split Airport. The drive to Brela takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes via the A1 motorway (including a toll payment of up to €4) or about 1.5 hours via the scenic D8 coastal road. During rush hours (15:00 – 17:00), A1 motorway route is strongly recommended due to potential congestions on coastal route.
Private Shuttle or Taxi: Taxis and private shuttle services are available. Contact details of the official conference partners and their rates will be announced in April.
By Car: The drive from Zagreb to Brela typically takes about 4.5 hours via the A1 motorway. The journey from Rijeka to Brela by car also takes around four and a half hours on the motorway. From Dubrovnik, the journey takes about 2.5 hours on the D8 coastal road and the A1 highway. For more information, please visit Croatian Motorways or Croatian Auto Club.
By Bus: Buses run from Zagreb to Brela, with the travel time of about 6 hours. There are also buses from Dubrovnik to Brela, taking around 4 hours. Buses from Split depart from Split Bus Station. For more details, visit GetByBus (for destination, enter ‘Brela Magistrala’).
By Train: While there is no direct train route to Brela, you can take a train to Split from Zagreb or Rijeka and then take a bus to Brela. More information is available on the Croatian Railways website.
By Ferry: International ferry lines run from Ancona to Split and from Bari to Dubrovnik. Once you arrive in Split or Dubrovnik, you can travel to Brela by bus, car rental, or taxi (check information under ‘By Land’ tab). For ferry timetable and availability, check the Jadrolinija website.
