Flying into Split Airport (SPU)
Located approximately 80 kilometres (50 miles) from Brela, Split Saint Jerome Airport (SPU), also known as Split Airport, is the closest international airport. It hosts more than 3 million passengers annually and connects Split with many cities worldwide, offering both direct and connecting flights, particularly during the spring and summer months.
Transfers from Split Airport to Brela
🚗CAR RENTAL
Several car rental companies operate at Split Airport. We strongly recommend our sponsor LAST MINUTE Rent-a-car, who offers very reasonable prices (e.g. four day rentals with premium damage coverage start from €130).
The drive to Brela takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes via the A1 motorway (including a toll payment of up to €4) or about 1 hour and 30 minutes via the scenic D8 coastal road. During rush hours (15:00 – 17:00), A1 motorway route is strongly recommended due to potential congestions along the coastal route.
Please note that, while the hotel offers parking for its guests, it is not included in the accommodation price. However, conference participants are eligible for a discounted rate of €4.5 per day (regular rate is €9 per day). Payment for parking is made at the hotel reception upon arrival.
🚕 PRIVATE SHUTTLE OR TAXI
Taxi fares from Split Airport to Brela (Hotel Soline) start at around €90, with typical one-way fare from Split Airport to Brela ranging between €100–120 per vehicle. Prices may be higher during peak travel times.
Recommend transfer options for conference participants include:
– UBER operates from Split Airport and usually offers the best fares, although prices can fluctuate significantly depending on demand.
– Booking.com offers pre-booked airport taxis. At the time of writing, the price for a Split Airport – Brela transfer was listed at €110.
– Taxi Gringo, a local taxi provider, offers fixed-rate transfers (€110 for an estate car; van option also available). To book, contact Mr. Tino Nađvinski at +385 95 519 8940. We recommend booking at least two days in advance to ensure availability.
Other taxi providers are available at Split Airport upon arrival.
⚠️Please note: Some taxi drivers may attempt to overcharge tourists, especially during high season. We strongly recommend confirming the price in advance and using our recommended providers or ride apps whenever possible.
Shared Rides: After registration closes, a WhatsApp group will be created for registered participants who wish to coordinate shared taxi rides from Split Airport to Brela. The group link will be sent to all participants in due time.
🚌 PUBLIC BUS
To travel by public bus to Brela, first, you need to reach Split Bus Station.
– take a shuttle bus from the airport (recommended option) or use public transportation (line no. 37) to reach Split Bus Station
– From Split Bus Station, regular intercity buses run to Brela.
– The total estimated travel time from Split Airport to Brela (via Split Bus Station) is about 3 hours, depending on traffic and bus availability. Please note that actual travel duration may vary depending on traffic conditions and the availability and schedule of bus services from Split to Brela.
To check schedules and purchase tickets, visit GetByBus (for destination, enter ‘Brela Magistrala’). Please note that, while this is the most affordable option, it is also the most time-consuming one. In addition, you will also need to arrange a local transfer from the bus-stop in Brela to the hotel (approximately 2.4 km to Hotel Soline). We recommend local taxi service TAXI Tomo (+385-91-7550607). Price of the transfer from the bus-stop to the Hotel is €10.
By Car: The drive from Zagreb to Brela typically takes about 4.5 hours via the A1 motorway. The journey from Rijeka to Brela by car also takes around four and a half hours on the motorway. From Dubrovnik, the journey takes about 2.5 hours on the D8 coastal road and the A1 highway. For more information, please visit Croatian Motorways or Croatian Auto Club.
By Bus: Buses run from Zagreb to Brela, with the travel time of about 6 hours. There are also buses from Dubrovnik to Brela, taking around 4 hours. Buses from Split depart from Split Bus Station. You will also need to arrange a local transfer from the bus-stop in Brela to the hotel (approximately 2.4 km to Hotel Soline). We recommend local taxi service TAXI Tomo (+385-91-7550607). By Train: While there is no direct train route to Brela, you can take a train to Split from Zagreb or Rijeka and then take a bus to Brela. More information is available on the Croatian Railways website.
By Ferry: International ferry lines run from Ancona to Split and from Bari to Dubrovnik. Once you arrive in Split or Dubrovnik, you can travel to Brela by bus, car rental, or taxi (see the ‘By Land’ section for more details).
